Welcome to Memorial Elementary School

MESSAGE FROM

Mr. Giovanni Giancaspro, Principal

Dear Parents/Community Members, and Guests,

Welcome to the Memorial Elementary School website. I hope you enjoy learning about our outstanding programs and about the wonderful accomplishments of our students.  I am very proud of our school and the quality of the educational program we provide for our students.

Our classroom experiences are designed to insure that all of our students develop the necessary skills and strategies to become lifelong learners and face the challenges of the 21st century. Parents are an integral part of our school community.  They volunteer and provide funds for a variety of activities, which support the mission of the school. This strong partnership with parents and the community benefits all of our students.

We are a collaborative community of parents and educators with one focus, our children and their future; and sharing one mission:  academic proficiency for all students.   Together as a team, the students, parents, teachers, district administration and I have established our one overarching academic goal:  Every student at Memorial Elementary School can learn.  Each student will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to be a responsible citizen.

To do this we must develop a learning community that is rich with academic opportunity, which students are seen as individuals each with their own style of learning and will be allowed to grow independently as they embrace the challenges of the 21st century.  We need to hold the belief that all students, without exception, have the ability to meet academic standards in reading, writing and mathematics, because every student deserves the opportunity to be prepared to attend college; and the foundation is established here at Memorial Elementary School.

We need to work in partnership, parent and staff, with district support.  To accomplish universal achievement for all students, the Memorial Elementary School staff is committed to consistent assessment of student performance, differentiated instruction and implementing any interventions needed during the school day.

As parents you are the primary educators of our students in the area of values and ethics, but a partnership must exist, because schools have an obligation to foster personal and civic virtues that help children develop good habits and attitudes, leading them to responsible citizenship.  At school we will continue to instill the commonly held values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship through the implementation of character education lessons.

I would like to share a very meaningful quote by Helen Keller, she said the only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.  As we continue working together we can reach our goals!  Together we are already making a difference.

I hope you will find this website useful to get a glimpse of our school’s strengths, faculty expertise, and programs. I invite you to explore this website including each teacher’s personalized page that includes classroom highlights, student assignments, educational links and exciting projects.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Giovanni Giancaspro, Principal
