Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

• (Option 1)  If you are simply dropping your child off in the morning and wish to continue on after they have safely exited your vehicle, you may do so via the drop-off/pick-up lane located at the top of the parking lot directly in front of Memorial School.  This lane is accessible from the bottom of Squaw Brook Road and empties back out onto Squaw Brook Road or High Mountain Road.  (Please refer to the enclosed map)
  Please note:  You may not park in the drop off lane for an extended period of time or leave your vehicle unattended while dropping your child off.  This lane is simply for those parents/guardians who would like to drop their child off and continue out the exits towards Squaw Brook Road or High Mountain Road.  If you would like to park, you must do so in the designated parent/visitor spaces located at the bottom of the lot.  (Please refer to the enclosed map) 

• (Option 2)  If you wish to park and accompany your child to the school grounds in the morning, you may park in any remaining spaces located in the parking lot, or on any surrounding streets where parking may be available. 

• The (2) buses which transport some of our student population will be utilizing the cut-out lane located at the top of Squaw Brook Road.  Parents dropping off and picking up their children are not permitted to use this lane, as it is for buses only. 

• All children, regardless of their drop-off point, or means of transportation, must access their designated line-up area using the sidewalk, which outlines the building and grounds.  Students will not be permitted to cross in front of cars within the drop-off lane, or after exiting a car that is parked in a designated parking lot space.

Upon arrival, students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and 2 will proceed towards the High Mountain Road side of Memorial School.  Following the sidewalk along the front of the building, they will proceed to the far end of the school where they will line up outside the back of the building.  This area contains a wide sidewalk where children will line-up each morning according to grade level.  Staff members will be present in the morning to assist students to this location.  Although this sidewalk is wide enough for students to line-up, there will not be enough room for stroller traffic.  If you choose to walk your child to this area, and have another young child who requires a stroller, I ask that you refrain from bringing the stroller into this area.   

Upon arrival, students in grades 3 and 4 will proceed towards the side entrance along Squaw Brook Road using the sidewalk adjacent to the front of the building where they will line up outside in front of their teacher assignment. 

• All “walkers” will be dismissed at 2:59 p.m. from one of two exits.  Where you pick up your child will depend on if you have parked your car and exited your vehicle or if you have elected to remain in your vehicle and drive through the pick-up lane.

• (Option 1)  When picking your child up, you may drive through the separate pick-up/drop off lane which is accessible from the bottom of Squaw Brook Road.  Using this lane will allow you to pull up directly in front of the school.  Upon picking up your child, you may proceed out the pick-up/drop off lane via Squaw Brook Road or High Mountain Road.  Memorial School Teachers will be present to assist your child to your car in this particular lane.

• (Option 2)  Parents/Guardians electing to park in empty spaces contained within the parking lot or on neighboring streets must exit their vehicle and accompany their child back to their vehicle using the sidewalk along Squaw Brook Road.  Students and parents will not be allowed to cross through the parking lot.  Parents who elect not to use the pick-up lane and have parked in a space or on a surrounding street will meet their child at the side entrance of Memorial School along Squaw Brook Road.
