Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Welcome to the North Haledon School District. North Haledon is K-8 district that contains two schools, Memorial School with a K-4 grade configuration and High Mountain Middle School with a 5-8 grade configuration.
Students in Memorial School attend regularly scheduled music, art, physical education, enrichment, math literacy skills, and computer classes. These subjects are in addition to the core subjects of mathematics, language arts literacy, science, social studies, and an introduction to basic Spanish.
Students in High Mountain School attend the same core subjects as Memorial School students as well as special subjects such as music, art, physical education, Spanish and STEAM Lab. High Mountain School is organized into grade level teams to promote cross-curricular activities for middle school students.
The NJSLS and NGSS are the foundation of instruction for our academic programs. Curriculum committees made up of teachers and administrators continue to work on updating curriculums based on student needs, improvement of instructional practices as well as state mandates. The Language Arts Literacy, Mathematics and Social Studies curriculums were recently written to adhere to the NJSLS.
